Project Juice: Day 13

In celebration of pomegranate season, I have purchased likely, too many. I am a huge fan of the pom, but clearly the prep can be a deterent. I suppose I'd better get busy peeling and popping. What I have decided to try is a dual pomegranate prep. I will peel and pop 2 at one time and seal the anrils from one in an airtight container in attempts to decrease oxidation of the precious antioxidants. I think this may not be optimal, but nonetheless, a technique to get me going on the delectable poms.

Project Juice: Day 14

Very happy with my decision to preemptively prepare the pom yesterday, I consider the amount of nutrient lost v overcoming the desire to prepare each pom at the time of consumption. Not able to measure the antioxidant levels in the fruit before, after or on time lapse, I make the executive call..this is OK. Trying to keep things simple, I try the pom with cranberry and find the tart of the cranberry to be perfect! I love it!

Project Juice: Day 15

Today I change it up! My schedule lends itself to a morning juice today, and so I take advantage of the fleeting opportunity. My choices are looking a bit repetitive and lean and I wonder if I should make my way to the market. Doing this may destroy my morning juice window, and so I decide to scrape up what I can. This actually turns out to be quite a good move as I discover some additional ingredients that I may have overlooked previously. I have some Enoki mushrooms and a lone beet that are just asking to be juiced. I have a red grapefruit on hand and then I look lovingly at the tomatoes on the counter. Perfect! I hadn't really thought to add tomatoes to the mix because I typically chop them into dishes or add to salads on a fairly regular basis. I think I may be overlooking the obvious in my attempts to increase my diversity in the fruits and veggie juicing, and think from here on, perhaps I should also consider my "everyday" fruits and veggies. Shhh. Don't let them know I've called them that.
