Blackened Shrimp & Avocado Dip

We asked the TCD team what dish they’ll be making this holiday season and Chrissie Kropelnicki loves this healthy appetizer for holiday parties

Ingredients

AVOCADO DIP 1 avocado 2 tablespoons lime juice 1/4 teaspoon onion powder 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 cup buttermilk 2 tablespoons parsley, chopped 1 tablespoon chives, chopped 1 tablespoon dill, chopped salt and pepper BLACKENED SHRIMP 2 lbs. raw shrimp, thawed 3 tablespoons smoked paprika 3 teaspoons onion powder 3 teaspoons garlic powder 2 teaspoon thyme 2 teaspoon oregano 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil 2-3 tablespoons blackened seasoning (from above) plus another pinch kosher salt 1/2 lime

Instructions

AVOCADO DIP 1. Place all ingredients in a food processor and process until smooth. Adjust the seasoning as necessary and set aside. . BLACKENED SHRIMP 1. Place all of the seasonings in a small bowl and stir to combine. 2. Heat the olive oil in a large saute pan over medium heat. 3. Add the thawed shrimp followed by 2-3 tablespoons of the seasoning mix (step 1) and a generous pinch of salt. Stir until the shrimp are well coated. 4. Saute for 5 minutes or until cooked through. 5. Place the shrimp on a serving platter with the avocado dip and squeeze fresh lime juice over the shrimp. 6. Serve immediately and enjoy!
